EMERGENCY PLUMBING SERVICES

What to Do When You Need Emergency Plumbing Services

Having an overflowing toilet or a broken water pipe that's suddenly spewing water all over your living room are just a couple of examples of emergency plumbing services that can cause havoc in your home. If you come home or wake up to such a catastrophic event, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and be at a loss of what to do. Especially what to do first as the first thing you should do is actually not call for emergency plumbing services -- despite what you might think.

If you encounter a major plumbing issue -- overflowing toilet, busted water pipe, flooded laundry room -- almost always the very first thing you should do is turn off the water with the one exception being frozen pipes. Shutting off the water is essential to preventing a bad situation from becoming an incredibly bad situation. Once you've shut off the water, then you can call in for emergency plumbing services to get a same day plumber to your home as fast as possible to permanently remedy the situation.

During the time that it takes for emergency plumbing services to get to your home, there are a couple of follow-up things you can do. First, move all the valuables and furnishings that are in water up and safely away where possible. Then, if you have standing water, use towels and a mop to try and get rid of all of the standing water that you can. Not doing so can cause water damage to your flooring and subflooring components. Hopefully, by the time you have gotten your belongings safe and done what you can to remove excess water, your emergency plumbing services will have arrived and they'll have your issues quickly sorted out.
